WHO WE ARE ! Niger Delta Budget Monitoring Group
Niger Delta Budget Monitoring Group (NDEBUMOG) was conceptualized and founded in July 2005. The organization is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and holds a Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations .
From inception, NDEBUMOG has contributed significantly to Nigeria’s and global development processes through partnerships, collaborations, research, lobbying and capacity building to communities and relevant stakeholders. These are on areas of public procurement, budget analysis, budget monitoring/tracking, basic economic literacy, shadow budgeting, tracking of illicit financial flows and enhancing communally centered capacity to pursue fiscal justice and social equity. Think-Tank established.
We have an institutional Think Tank, made up of intellectuals, who are mostly doctorate degree holders. There are a few holders of master’s degree, with over 20 years’ experience in development work that are privileged to be granted membership.
NDEBUMOG’s Think Tank partakes in (any special) research, prepares high level trainings faculty, data integrity validations, and where necessary, engages in (internal and external) facilitations of trainings, town hall meetings, conferences, alongside, engagements on highly intellectualize matters that may be assigned by management. From inception of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (N-EITI) in Nigeria, NDEBUMOG ranks among pioneer organizations that engages crosscutting entities across Nigeria on EITI. We have partnered and collaborated with NEITI to organized, facilitates, and conducts audits’ remediation advocacies. NDEBUMOG equally analyzes extractive data from NEITI and interrogates information around fiscal governance realities. Institutionally, NDEBUMOG shall continue to engage with EITI’s processes to a stage, where Nigeria and other EITI countries shall reexamine, reappraise, and regauge the necessity of EITI as its concerns impact on fiscal governance and extractive justice to communities. “ Coming here is an eye opener for me. NDEBUMOG has done a lot for communities and women. Hearing testimonies here almost got me emotional.
